So you want to write for The Rest of the Press. Fantastic. We like that about you.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Content that is on things of local interest. Did you attend an event in Anchorage recently? We’d love to hear what you thought of it.
- Concise, engaging, interesting to read content. We want to hear your voice come through but pieces should be informative and relatable to a large audience.
- We are especially interested in content that covers areas outside of what we’ve already printed. You went to a demonstration about how to hand carve traditional Dutch clogs? Tell us about it. What did you learn?
- The Rest of the Press is primarily an arts and culture blog, however we will run content that is of interest to our readership in any genre, including but not limited to: politics, human interest stories, massive scientific breakthroughs and just about anything with a cute cat picture.
Keep in mind even if you submit a fully written piece not all content can or will be accepted to run on the blog. We will let you know if we want to run your piece and may send you back edits or revisions for the content you submitted before we publish it. If you have something you’re interested in writing but aren’t sure it’s a topic we’d be interested in, email our entertainment editor at firstname.lastname@example.org
We can’t pay you for pieces contributed to the blog. But you will get the smug satisfaction of being marginally hyper-locally famous for a split second. (Plus a byline and consideration for paid pieces in the future.)
