Local promoter Chris Cardenas has confirmed that a version of the Warped Tour, a popular music festival featuring rock, punk and alternative music, will make it’s way to Alaska this summer.
Cardenas, who works as a local booker for Los Angeles’s Anger Management, confirmed today that a version of the tour will come to Anchorage in June.
“Yes, is not officially Warped Tour, it will be called The Road To Warped Tour,” Cardenas told the PRESS via email. “It will be Warped Tour bands but [on] a lot smaller scale.”
The “Road to Warped Tour” official lineup has yet to be announced, but details should become available in the next few weeks.
“Kevin Lyman, founder of Warped Tour, and I have been wanting to do this for awhile,” Cardenas said, “This will be huge event for Alaska, if it goes well this year can make it even bigger next year. Vans [shoes] has offered to fly up three professional BMX riders and two professional skate boarders if we can find a nice half pipe.”
Cardenas told KTVA more information, including more details on the festival’s musical lineup, will be announced on Jan. 24.
