This week our feature story is about Spenard, that magical section of Anchorage that was once its own town and is now the heart of a sprawling municipality. Mary Lochner spoke with several people who have long histories in the area for her piece but we want to hear more Spenard stories.
And if you’ve lived in Anchorage for any amount of time there is a pretty good chance you have a story that starts with “This one time in Spenard…”
Tell us! Get published on our blog! Win cool stuff!
Tell us your story about Spenard or something that happened in Spenard in 600 words or less. Submit it to firstname.lastname@example.org between now and Wednesday, May 1 at 5 p.m.
Some stories will be posted to the blog as they come in and on Thursday, May 2 we’ll announce a few winners. Prizes include two tickets to Spenard Prom courtesy of Animal Sounds Productions, a Tap Root Public House and Cafe tee shirt and free entry into a Monday Mayhem event at Tap Root and anything else we can scrounge up between now and next Thursday from your favorite Spenard hot spots.
Your entries can include pictures, short video clips, poetry or art work as well. The only rule is that it must be true and it must involve Spenard.
