The Anchorage Press is thrilled to announce the winners of this year’s Black and White photo contest. We received almost 200 submissions, chronicling everything from the grand mountain-scapes of McKinley to little flowers, from small children to animals to objects of the imagination.
After a week of blind judging, our jurors have arrived at their final decisions. We want to thank all those that participated in this year’s contest—you have opened our eyes to a place we thought we knew through and through.
To preserve some measure of surprise, we are listing only the names of the first, second and third place winners and two honorable mentions in each category. Who won which place will be revealed in the January 3 issue of the Anchorage Press and at a First Friday gallery exhibit at the Indigo Lounge in downtown Anchorage, January 4.
While waiting for that, why not check out the Cell Phone Photo Contest on our Facebook page? Winners will be decided by you—our readers—and judging is open until midnight Sunday, Dec. 30.
Without further ado, here are our top photographers for this year (in no particular order):
Krista Buller, Nicholas Bradford, Alysha Bristow
Jeanne Garritson, Craig Updegrove, Terry Smith, Denny Patella
